FAQ’s
What’s the difference between a dietitian and nutritionist?
Kelly Anne Erdman, MSc, RD, OLY is a Registered Dietitian (RD) in British Columbia and Alberta. Dietitians are regulated health professionals with protected titles and only those registered with provincial regulatory bodies can call themselves a dietitian in BC and AB. Nutritionists may have varying levels of education and are not always regulated; dietitians provide evidence-based nutrition advice and are qualified to work in clinical, community, and sports settings.
How can nutrition improve my athletic performance?
Proper nutrition fuels your training, enhances recovery and supports muscle growth. Tailored nutrition strategies can also help prevent injuries and improve focus during competition.
Do I need to be a professional athlete to work with you?
No, you do not need to be a professional athlete. I often work with teen athletes to help them establish healthy habits early and support their development both on and off the field.
What if I have multiple goals (e.g., build muscle AND manage IBS)?
Absolutely, I can help you address multiple goals at once. Nutrition plans can be customized to support muscle building while also managing digestive concerns like IBS. Please refer to the Individual Nutrition Counseling page for more information.
Do you offer meal plans?
Yes, I offer personalized meal plans designed to meet your unique needs, preferences, and goals.
How do you tailor your recommendations to different sports (e.g., endurance vs. strength)?
I customize nutrition recommendations based on the specific demands of your sport. Endurance athletes may need more focus on fueling for long sessions, while strength athletes benefit from strategies that support muscle growth and recovery.
Do I need a referral from a doctor?
No, you do not need a referral from a doctor to work with me. You can book directly to start your sport nutrition journey.
